Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers about how Knapp's schedules service, diagnoses appliances, works with parts, and handles safety concerns. If you don't see your question, call us or submit a service request.

Scheduling & Service Requests

How do I request service?
Submit a service request online or call us. Include the appliance type, brand, model number, symptoms, service address, ZIP code, and preferred dates. Submitting a request does not confirm an appointment — Knapp's reviews each request and contacts you regarding eligibility and scheduling.
Do you give arrival times?
For confirmed service visits, Knapp's calls the evening before to provide a two-hour arrival window.
Do you service my area?
Knapp's accepts service requests throughout the street-delivery area of every approved ZIP code. Use the ZIP checker on any page or view the Service Areas page for the full list.
Can I drop off an appliance at your Stark Street location?
No. Our Stark Street business location is not open for customer walk-ins or appliance drop-offs. All service takes place at the customer's home, rental property, or qualifying business location.

Diagnosis, Pricing & Parts

How does the diagnostic process work?
A technician inspects the appliance, verifies the symptoms, and identifies the failing component or system. From there we discuss the recommended repair, expected parts, and whether repair or replacement makes more sense for your unit.
Do you provide quotes over the phone?
Accurate quotes require an on-site diagnostic. Symptoms can share root causes across very different components, so we don't guess a price before we've seen the appliance.
Do you source original manufacturer parts?
Whenever possible we use manufacturer or manufacturer-approved parts. If a part is discontinued or back-ordered, we'll explain the options before proceeding.
What if the repair isn't worth it?
We'll tell you. If the cost, age, or condition of the appliance makes replacement the smarter choice, we'll say so plainly rather than push a repair that doesn't serve you.

Eligibility & Brands

Which brands do you service?
See the Brands We Service directory for the current list. Approval depends on the appliance, brand, model, job scope, access, and scheduling availability — a listed brand isn't an automatic acceptance of every model or job.
Do you service commercial equipment?
Knapp's services light-commercial residential-style appliances in qualifying business locations (small offices, break rooms, short-term rentals). Heavy commercial kitchen equipment is out of scope.
Do you work with property managers and rental owners?
Yes. See the Property Managers page for the workflow, communication expectations, and access requirements.

Safety

I smell gas near my appliance — what should I do?
Leave the area immediately, do not operate switches or electronics, and call your utility's emergency line from a safe location. Once the utility clears the situation, contact us for appliance service.
My appliance is sparking or smoking. Should I unplug it?
Yes — if you can safely reach the plug or the circuit breaker without contacting the appliance, disconnect power. Do not attempt to open, move, or use the appliance until it has been inspected.
Is there anything I should check before requesting service?
Each service page lists safe checks specific to that appliance (power, water supply, filters, doors and seals). Doing these first sometimes resolves the issue and always helps us diagnose faster.
